about

*A candy-colored clown they call the sandmanTiptoes to my room every nightJust to sprinkle stardust and to whisper"Go to sleep, everything is alright"

6 songs that fortuitously resonate with the time of the year they get released: the heart of a wildly blossoming Spring. 6 songs about renewal & homeliness; always eerie, at times comforting. Pop music painstakingly tailored from a wide range of material: synths and drum machines skillfully programmed, single-take piano improvs, intercontinental email exchanges and vocal feats.

What ties them together is unclear, but there sure is more than the mere chance of sitting next to each other on a CD and their obvious contemporaneity. A subterranean whir of revolt, perhaps; anger lurking beneath spacious arrangements and a shared sense of lyricism.

There’s not much context to be given: music by artists we love and thus brought together, composed during a loose period, the first years of the decade. We’d like to mention the extra-musical contribution by artist Lera Petrushenko, who designed the half-human, half-animal doll that freezes and stares at us.

CCCC* was made without clear models in mind (yet it’s hard not to think of les Disques du Crépuscule or Cordelia’s compilations), but it does feel like it involuntarily ends up being a manifesto of some sort for the Fondation. We don’t know if we should see it this way, but we do believe that it says a lot about the artists we’d like to promote and work with.

Much love and gratitude to Céline Gillain, Radio Hito, Meetsystem, Victor de Roo, Croche, Gyeongsu, M.B. Jones & Bob Fay for their trust.
